Flash in the Night

Prepare for an electrifying evening under the stars at the Flash in the Night race, set for Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, at the scenic Canfield Fairgrounds in Canfield, OH. This unique event offers runners the choice of a dazzling 5K or a spirited 1-Mile distance, both professionally chip-timed by GCXC Racing - Youngstown. Participants will enjoy a beautifully illuminated course along paved roads within the fairgrounds, guided by the glow of luminaries and streetlights, creating a truly magical racing atmosphere. The course is described as wide open and closed to traffic, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Runners can anticipate typical race day conditions with highs around 83°F and lows near 59°F, with a modest 18% chance of precipitation, making for a pleasant summer night run. Each registered participant will receive a stylish event shirt, a custom bib, and a distinctive finisher's medal – a "Flash Medal" for 5K finishers and a "Firefly Medal" for those completing the 1-Mile. Packet pick-up is conveniently located at the Cattle Arena Building within the Canfield Fairgrounds, ensuring a smooth start to your race night. The Firefly 1-Mile kicks off at 8:15 PM, followed by the 5K at 8:45 PM.

Whether you're aiming for a personal best or simply want to soak in the festive community spirit, the Flash in the Night promises a memorable experience for runners of all ages. Awards will be presented to the top three overall men and women in both races, as well as to the top three in various age groups, offering a chance to shine beneath the night sky.
