About This Race

Lace up your trail shoes for the second annual Flat Rock Trail Race, set to challenge runners on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in the scenic town of Dunstable, Massachusetts. This engaging event offers two distances: a single 5-mile loop for those looking for a spirited run or hike, and a 6-hour option for ultrarunners aiming to complete as many 5-mile loops as possible within the time limit. Proceeds from the race directly benefit the Humane Society for Greater Nashua, adding a charitable cause to your athletic endeavor.

The course itself is a demanding yet beautiful 5-mile loop, traversing stunning New England woods with nearly 600 feet of elevation gain per loop. Runners will embark on a journey that includes crossing the historic Arched Bridge, running along a section of the old Nashua, Acton and Boston Railroad bed, winding through a former granite quarry and farmland, and ascending to the peaks of the old Blanchard Hill Ski Area and Flat Rock Hill. Expect classic New England trail conditions, featuring roots and rocks that add to the technical challenge. The start and finish are conveniently located at 510 High Street, with parking opening at 6:15 AM for an 8:00 AM race start.

Runners can anticipate two aid stations along the course. The main start/finish aid station will be well-stocked with goodies, water, Tailwind, and ice, with an admirable goal of offering food-sensitive options like gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan choices. An additional aid station around mile 3 will provide water and ice. Both aid stations will have porta-potties. This is a cupless race, so participants should remember to bring their own hydration vessel. Typical race day conditions in mid-June often bring comfortable highs around 78°F and lows around 54°F, with a relatively low 17% chance of precipitation, providing a generally pleasant atmosphere for hitting the trails. This unique event also often coincides with the Dunstable Strawberry Festival and Art Show, making it a perfect opportunity to combine your love for running with local festivities.
