Fly the Flag 5K/2K

Kick off your Independence Day celebrations with the spirited Fly the Flag 5K/2K, set for Saturday, July 4th, 2026, in Crown Point, Indiana. This festive event, offering both a timed 3.1-mile run and a non-timed 2K walk, welcomes participants of all ages and fitness levels to the scenic Lake County Fairgrounds. The picturesque course winds along well-maintained paths and around the beautiful fairgrounds lake, providing a delightful backdrop for your holiday hustle. Beyond the run, you'll be supporting local first responders, adding an extra layer of community spirit to your race day.

The Fly the Flag 5K/2K promises a rewarding experience from start to finish. Runners will enjoy a relatively flat course, making it ideal for setting a new personal best or simply soaking in the festive atmosphere. Unique finisher medals await the first 500 registrants, and top overall awards, as well as age group honors across diverse divisions (including Master, Clydesdale, and Athena categories), are up for grabs. Packet pickup is conveniently available on race day from 6:30 AM to 7:15 AM at the Lake County Fairgrounds, with the race starting promptly at 7:30 AM CDT.

Typical race day conditions in early July include highs around 83°F and lows around 63°F, with an 18% chance of precipitation, creating a warm but often clear environment for your run. Gather your friends and family, as kids under three race for free, and there's even an incentive to bring a group – recruit five friends to register, and you'll receive $20 back.
