Fool's Run 10K & 5K

Lace up your running shoes for the 47th Annual Fool's Run 10K/5K, set to take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, in scenic Blairsville, PA. This venerable event is believed to be Pennsylvania's longest continuously run 10K, with a rich history dating back to 1979. A popular 5K distance was added in 2015, welcoming runners and walkers of all paces to experience the charm of the Ghost Town Trail. The race fosters a friendly atmosphere, attracting participants from across Western Pennsylvania and neighboring states to Saylor Park in Black Lick.

Both the 10K and 5K courses offer an enjoyable out-and-back experience along the acclaimed Ghost Town Trail, a "runner's paradise" known for its well-maintained rail trail surface. Runners will appreciate the gentle terrain, with the 5K featuring an approximate 60-foot gain on the way out, providing a manageable challenge followed by a swift downhill return, making it an ideal course for personal records. As you traverse the trail, you'll be treated to glimpses of the region's industrial past, passing through old mining towns and steel industry remnants, including coke ovens. Water stations will be available on the course and at the finish line to keep you hydrated.

The Fool's Run prides itself on a rewarding experience for all. Every registered runner and walker receives a finisher's medal, and for 2026, participants can expect chip timing with live results updated every 30 seconds, ensuring precise tracking of your performance. Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, masters, and age group winners in five-year increments up to 70+. Post-race, celebrate your accomplishment with complimentary chips, cupcakes, and Eat 'N Park's iconic Smiley Cookies. Typical race day conditions in early April feature comfortable highs around 57°F and lows around 34°F, with a low chance of precipitation, creating pleasant running weather.
