Freedom Fighters 5K, 10K and Half

Lace up for the Freedom Fighters 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon on June 7, 2026, a truly inspiring event set within the picturesque landscape of Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, VA. Runners can anticipate typical race day conditions with highs around 79F and lows around 60F, and only a 16% chance of precipitation, providing a comfortable early summer running experience.

The courses are renowned for their scenic beauty and varied terrain, winding through the rolling hills and tree-covered roadways of Prince William Forest Park. Half marathoners will navigate a USATF-approved course that is primarily paved roads with some slight inclines and a 1.5-mile stretch of gravel and sand, featuring a counter-clockwise loop that crosses multiple streams and includes a brief out-and-back gravel trail section. For those tackling the 10K, expect a balanced mix of pavement and trails, while the 5K offers a mostly trail experience on smooth gravel roads winding through the woods. All distances include gentle inclines, adding a manageable yet engaging challenge.

Runners will find ample support with water stations strategically placed approximately every mile and a half along the course, offering water and Gatorade at some locations. While restrooms are available near the Prince William Forest Park Visitor Center at the start/finish, on-course facilities are historically limited due to the park setting. As a Bishop's Events production, all finishers receive a commemorative medal and a technical event shirt, with Half Marathon and 10K participants also earning a 50% discount for a future Bishop's Events race. Walkers and strollers are welcome, fostering an inclusive atmosphere. Be sure to register online before race day, as park regulations prohibit on-site registration.
