Lace up for an unforgettable winter challenge at the Frozen 50K, set to take place on February 7, 2026, in the charming lakeside community of Cassadaga, NY. This distinctive "no-frills" ultra-running event, produced by Wilson Endurance Sports, offers a unique opportunity to test your endurance while supporting the Chautauqua County Fire Police.

The course features a manageable 3.1-mile (5K) loop around Cassadaga's picturesque Lower Lake. Runners will navigate a mostly flat route with only about 60 feet of elevation gain per loop, staying on the shoulder of the roadway against traffic, with all left-hand turns except one crossing point to return to the Community Room. What truly sets the Frozen 50K apart is its flexible format: participants can decide on race day to complete anywhere from one to ten loops (5K to 50K), with no strict cut-off times. All breaks taken are included in your overall finish time, encouraging a relaxed yet challenging experience. Typical race day conditions in early February see highs around 33F and lows near 18F, with a minimal 6% chance of precipitation, promising a true winter running adventure.

The Cassadaga Community Center/Fire Hall serves as the central hub, offering a warming location with restrooms, check-in, and post-race amenities. An aid station at the starting point, along with a self-serve table providing water and Hammer Nutrition Heed and Gels on Maple Avenue, ensures runners have necessary support. After conquering your chosen distance, refuel with complimentary pancakes and enjoy coffee and hot cocoa. While initially a strictly "no-frills" event with no finisher medals or race shirts, top three male and female 50K finishers now receive a hand-made crocheted hat, adding a touch of unique local charm to your accomplishment. This event is a cherished part of the Cassadaga Winter Festival, providing a festive atmosphere for runners and walkers alike.
