Goodnight-Loving Run

Lace up for a journey through history at the 5th Annual Goodnight-Loving Run, set for Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Newcastle, Texas. Runners can choose their challenge from a Half Marathon (13.1M), 10K, or 5K distance, all starting and finishing at the historic Fort Belknap, the recognized birthplace of the iconic Goodnight-Loving Cattle Trail. The course is an out-and-back journey along FM 61, featuring a few mild incline hills to keep things interesting on this road race. Aid stations will be conveniently located approximately every mile, providing water, sports beverages, protein snacks, and port-a-johns to support you on your run.

Beyond the race, the Goodnight-Loving Run offers an unforgettable "Crawfish and Cannons" celebration. After crossing the finish line, immerse yourself in an all-day festival atmosphere featuring a lively crawfish boil, a vibrant farmers market, the official Texas State Longhorn Herd, and a Texas Forts Trail Wine Festival. Live music will set the celebratory mood, and for a truly unique experience, one lucky runner will even get the chance to fire a cannon. Typical race day conditions in mid-April include comfortable highs around 78°F and lows near 48°F, with only a 9% chance of precipitation, providing ideal running weather. All finishers will receive a commemorative T-shirt, with 10K and Half Marathon participants also earning a custom coffee mug and a finisher's medal, respectively.
