Prepare for an unforgettable journey through towering ancient forests at the Grasshopper Peak Redwoods Run on June 6, 2026, in Honeydew, CA. This renowned event, presented by the Six Rivers Running Club, offers both a challenging 30K (18.6 miles) and a scenic 10.5-mile course, each meticulously crafted from over 100 miles of trails within the magnificent Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Runners will experience a true trail adventure, with 100% un-paved terrain that includes brutal climbs to Grasshopper Peak, reaching a high point of 3300 feet from a starting elevation of 700 feet. Expect varied landscapes, from dry ridgelines to lush creek drainages, alternating between dense redwood forests and tanoak and huckleberry groves. Typical race day conditions in early June boast pleasant highs around 62F and lows around 50F, with a minimal 4% chance of precipitation, creating ideal running weather.
Both distances promise a rewarding challenge. The 10.5-mile course features a steep initial ascent followed by alternating climbs and level sections, culminating in a 4.8-mile gentle descent and a final mile along the iconic Bull Creek Flats Trail. The 30K race continues with gentler climbs before a steeper approach to Grasshopper Peak, offering occasional views of the King Range, followed by a descent that includes steep sections up to a 12% downgrade. The footing throughout is generally good, allowing runners to marvel at the 300-foot tall redwood giants surrounding them. Aid stations, located at mile 4 for the 10.5M and miles 4.5, 10, and 13 for the 30K, will be stocked with Gatorade, water, M&Ms, bananas, potato chips, watermelon, and cookies to fuel your run.
What truly sets the Grasshopper Peak Redwoods Run apart is its spectacular setting. Both courses finish in a breathtaking grove of massive old-growth redwood trees in the Bull Creek Flats, providing an awe-inspiring conclusion to your effort. Beyond the stunning scenery, runners are welcomed back to the Bull Creek/Grasshopper Road Junction start/finish area with a handmade redwood finisher medallion and homemade cookies. Participants should note this is a cup-free event, requiring runners to carry their own water bottles from start to finish. Immerse yourself in the majesty of these ancient forests for an unforgettable trail running experience.
