The course is largely flat, but runners should prepare to traverse marsh ponds, winding wooded boundaries, and expansive farmland, culminating in a signature "muddy portion" that gives the event its name. The final mile leads to the finish line over a grassy surface, making for a memorable and challenging conclusion.
