Embark on a picturesque journey through Northern California at the Great Shasta Rail Trail races on July 25, 2026, in McCloud, CA. Runners will be treated to beautiful crisp mountain air and breathtaking views of majestic Mount Shasta as they traverse 100% un-paved trails. Typical race day conditions in late July feature comfortable lows around 54°F and highs near 92°F, with virtually no chance of precipitation.

The course follows an out-and-back format along the historic Great Shasta Rail Trail, a scenic conversion of an old railroad line that winds through pristine mountains, open forests, and alongside creeks and lakes. This non-motorized multi-use trail connects to the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and offers glimpses of Burney Mountain. Aid stations are strategically placed approximately every 3 to 6 miles, fully stocked with HEED electrolyte drink mix, common runner snacks, and ample ice, with water drops available during warmer conditions. Porta potties are located at the start/finish area and the 50K turnaround.
