About This Race

Lace up your trail shoes for the Greenland Trail Races, set to conquer the scenic Greenland Open Space in Larkspur, CO, on May 2, 2026. This premier event, recognized as the host of the 2026 RRCA National 50K Championship, offers a distance for every runner, including a challenging 50K, a spirited 25K, an enduring 8-mile, and a fast 4-mile race. Known as "Colorado's fastest 50K," the Greenland Trail Races combine competitive speed with breathtaking natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for both seasoned ultrarunners and trail newcomers alike.

The course itself is a runner's delight, traversing over 3,000 acres of rolling dirt trails, featuring wide, smooth double-track paths with some crushed gravel sections, and even some single track. Runners will be treated to expansive views of Pikes Peak and the majestic Rocky Mountains as they navigate through native grasslands, past serene ponds, and skirt ponderosa pine forests. With a starting elevation around 6,900-7,200 feet and a high point of 7,400 feet, the course presents a series of rolling hills, including a notable climb and rewarding descent on each loop. While the terrain is mostly exposed, typical race day conditions in early May feature comfortable highs around 62°F and lows around 36°F, with only a 10% chance of precipitation. Aid stations, located approximately every 3.5 to 4 miles for longer distances, are fully stocked with water, Gatorade, energy gels, and salty snacks, ensuring runners are well-supported on their journey.

The Greenland Trail Races offer a truly engaging experience, celebrated by runners for its excellent organization, well-marked routes, and the supportive atmosphere provided by dedicated volunteers. Finishers of the 50K receive a coveted belt buckle, while all other distances earn a finisher medal and a technical race shirt. The festivities continue post-race with a party-like expo, complete with pizza and beer, creating a memorable celebration of your accomplishment on these remarkable Colorado trails.
