Grizzly Mile and Bear Cub Run

Get ready for a day of spirited racing at the Grizzly Mile and Bear Cub Run on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Fredericksburg, VA! This exciting event is specifically designed for youth runners, offering a welcoming and energetic atmosphere for aspiring athletes. Typical race day conditions in late March include comfortable highs around 64°F and lows near 37°F, with a low chance of precipitation, providing ideal weather for a fantastic run.

The Grizzly Mile features a timed 1-mile run with separate heats for male and female participants in kindergarten through 8th grade. The course promises a thrilling experience, starting in a parking lot before winding behind the school, looping around the bus area, and concluding with a strong finish at the track's finish line. For the youngest competitors, the untimed Bear Cub Run offers a fun 300-meter dash, starting and finishing directly on the track for children in 3rd grade and younger. This setup at Riverbend High School ensures a safe and engaging environment for all participants.

Packet pickup is available the evening before the race at Riverbend High School, or on race day starting at 7 AM at the stadium entrance. Awards for the 1-Mile race will celebrate the top three male and female athletes across various grade categories (K-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8), adding an extra layer of friendly competition to this community-focused event.
