Hatteras 5K Race Series

Embark on a refreshing start to your Outer Banks vacation with the Hatteras 5K Race Series in Avon, NC, on August 7, 2026. This vibrant 5K event invites runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to enjoy a "flat and fast-paced" course through the picturesque Kinnakeet Shores, a beautiful section of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. As part of a popular summer race series organized by The OBX Running Company and SUN Realty, this chip-timed 5K offers a welcoming atmosphere that is both walker and stroller-friendly. The race kicks off at 8:00 AM from The SUN Realty Office at 41838 NC-12 in Avon, with race day packet pickup and registration available on-site from 7:00-7:45 AM.

After crossing the finish line, celebrate your achievement with a light post-race breakfast and refreshments. Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers in the Overall and Masters categories, as well as the first-place youth (14 & under).
