Lace up your running shoes and embrace the autumnal spirit at the Haunted 5K, 10K, 13.1M & 26.2M races, set to haunt the scenic North Oconee River Greenway Trail in Athens, GA, on Saturday, October 10, 2026. This thrilling event offers distances for every runner, from a speedy 5K to a challenging full marathon, alongside a 10K and Half Marathon (13.1M). Prepare for a run through picturesque routes, where typical race day conditions in October bring comfortable highs around 78°F and lows around 55°F, with only an 11% chance of precipitation.

The course features an engaging out-and-back design along the paved North Oconee River Greenway Trail, starting bright and early at 8:00 AM. Runners in the 5K and 10K will navigate a 1.56-mile segment, completing it once for the 5K and twice for the 10K. For those tackling the longer distances, the Half Marathon and Marathon utilize a 1.64-mile out-and-back stretch, with the Half Marathon covering it four times and the Marathon a formidable eight times. Adding to the festive atmosphere, participants are encouraged to don their best Halloween costumes, with awards given for the most creative ensembles, though dressing up is entirely optional. All finishers will be rewarded with a unique themed medal to commemorate their achievement, and the race contributes points toward the US Road Running Race Series.

Conveniently located at the North Oconee River Greenway Trailhead, packet pickup begins 30 minutes before the 8:00 AM start time. Due to the out-and-back format, runners will repeatedly pass the start/finish area, making it easy to access personal hydration or support. With a generous course time limit of 6 hours for all distances, including the marathon, this event welcomes a wide range of paces and ensures ample time to complete your chosen challenge. Secure your spot early as registration is online only via RunSignup, with no on-site registration available.
