Prepare for an extraordinary challenge at the Hawaii Kai Ultra Run XTreme 2026, set for July 25th in beautiful Honolulu, HI. This semi-annual event is renowned for pushing runners to new limits amidst the stunning Hawaiian landscape, offering distances from a Half Marathon (13.1M) up to a grueling 100 Miles, alongside 30K, 26.2M, 50K, 50M, and 100K options.

The course features a challenging 9-mile paved loop that winds through Kalama Valley and Hawaii Kai, including the infamous "Heartbreak Hill" (Koko Crater), which rises from approximately 50 ft to 286 ft. Each loop presents an elevation gain of 584 ft, offering a constant test of endurance on 100% road terrain. Runners will experience scenic views as they head towards Sandy Beach. The race operates on an open course, requiring adherence to traffic rules. To keep you fueled, three well-stocked aid stations are strategically placed approximately every 2.5 miles, providing water, electrolytes, ice, and snacks. Public restrooms are available at all aid stations, with 24-hour access at the start/finish in Kalama Valley Park. In line with sustainability efforts, this is a cupless event, so participants should bring their own reusable hydration gear.

Beyond the physical demands, the Hawaii Kai Ultra Run XTreme is celebrated for its supportive atmosphere, encouraging camaraderie among runners. Participants have the flexibility to choose their own start times or opt for set wave starts, though specific wave starts are required for those aiming to qualify for HURT events, the 50 States Marathon Club, or Marathon Maniacs. While it's a personal challenge without age group awards, all registered finishers receive a certificate and a custom award for their accomplished distance. Typical race day conditions in late July can be warm, with highs around 88°F and lows around 75°F, and only a 1% chance of precipitation, making hydration and sun protection paramount. The event kicks off from Kalama Valley Park at 555 Kealahou St. in Hawaii Kai, offering a memorable and rigorous running adventure.
