Prepare for a unique challenge with the HBTT, also known as the High Bridge Time Trial, set to take place on June 28, 2026, in the scenic Richmond area. While typically our focus is on footraces, this event offers a thrilling 18.5-mile (or precisely 18.25-mile) experience designed for cyclists as part of the Virginia State Park Adventure Series. Participants will tackle a single-loop, out-and-back course that begins and ends near the popular Three Roads Brewery. The trail, described as smooth dirt, is suitable for a variety of bicycles, including gravel, cyclocross, or even road tires, making it accessible for a range of cycling enthusiasts.
The High Bridge Time Trial distinguishes itself with its individual time trial format, ensuring a personalized race against the clock where no drafting is allowed. Competitors will check in starting at 11 AM, with the first cyclists setting off by noon, and the final racer by 12:30 PM. This setup allows each participant to focus on their own performance and strategy. Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as various age group categories.
Typical race day conditions in late June for Richmond, Virginia, involve warm weather, with highs around 89°F and lows around 68°F, and a 17% chance of precipitation. This calls for proper hydration and preparation for a summer ride.
