Since adding a 5K run in 2002, the Mitchell Heart & Sole Cancer Walk has distributed over $600,000 to residents bravely fighting cancer, ensuring that all funds stay within the local community.
The race kicks off and concludes on Norway Street, directly across from the DWU/Avera Sports & Wellness Complex at 500 W Norway, making for an accessible start and finish line. Runners will navigate a course through community streets, heading east on Norway, north on Duff, east on Hurst, south on Rowley, east on Cabelas, west on Spruce, north on Rowley, and finally back west to Norway Avenue. Race day registration begins at 7:30 AM, with the official race starting at 8:00 AM. Historically, typical race day conditions in early May feature comfortable highs around 64°F and lows around 41°F, with only a 10% chance of precipitation, creating pleasant running weather. As an added bonus, the first 25 participants to register will receive a complimentary Heart & Sole swag bag.
