Honolulu Rainbow EKIDEN

Lace up for an unforgettable blend of teamwork and breathtaking Hawaiian scenery at the Honolulu Rainbow EKIDEN on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this premier community sports festival invites runners to experience a unique Ekiden relay, where teams of 3-5 members conquer five individual 5K laps, totaling 25K, and pass a traditional "tasuki" sash that embodies the island's natural "mana" or energy. Individual runners can also partake in a single 5K Fun Run & Walk, enjoying the stunning course at their own pace, while younger participants can join the 'Oli'oli Kids Challenge.

The scenic loop course begins and ends in picturesque Kapiolani Park, nestled at the eastern end of Waikiki, with the iconic Diamond Head proudly watching over the start. Runners will ascend a portion of Diamond Head Road, where gentle hills offer an engaging challenge amidst panoramic ocean views, swaying palm trees, and the magnificent crater. This road course ensures a comfortable and exhilarating run, with typical race day conditions in mid-March featuring pleasant highs around 81°F and lows near 68°F, alongside a minimal 7% chance of precipitation. Aid stations with water and toilets are strategically placed at the relay and turning points, with light refreshments awaiting at the finish line.
