About This Race

Prepare for an epic mountain challenge at the Hood Hundred, a premier 100-mile trail race set amidst the stunning and diverse terrain of Oregon's Mt. Hood National Forest. On August 1, 2026, runners will embark on an unforgettable journey starting and finishing at the scenic Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Area. This meticulously organized event, presented by Daybreak Racing, is renowned for its vibrant community atmosphere and professional production, offering an incredibly well-supported experience. Typical race day conditions in early August bring pleasant temperatures, with highs around 84°F and lows around 58°F, and only a 1% chance of precipitation, creating ideal conditions for a long-distance effort.

The Hood Hundred course is a challenging lollipop-loop design, featuring approximately 17,300 feet of elevation gain and an equal descent over its 100 miles. Runners will navigate 82 miles of singletrack trail, much of it smooth dirt with some rocky and technical sections, alongside segments of doubletrack, gravel forest roads, and minimal pavement. While the first half offers surprisingly runnable terrain, the back half becomes deceptively tougher, presenting more climbs and technical challenges that demand grit and focus. Awe-inspiring views accompany runners throughout, providing a world-class tour of Mt. Hood's high country and its drier eastern backcountry.

Runners are exceptionally well-supported with 14 aid stations along the course, including 12 full-service stops amply stocked with hydration, fuel, and hot options at overnight stations. Professional medical personnel are present at each full-service aid station, ensuring runner safety. The race is also highly crew-accessible, with nine dedicated crew points plus the start/finish, all reachable via well-maintained paved roads. Finisher receive a custom metal belt buckle, and the Hood Hundred proudly serves as a 2027 Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run qualifying race, requiring completion in under 34 hours. Daybreak Racing's commitment to runner experience, from the well-marked course to enthusiastic volunteers, ensures a memorable and epic mountain trail endurance challenge.
