Lace up for the Hotfoot 5K Trail Run, an engaging event set to unfold on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in the scenic South Kitsap Regional Park in Port Orchard, WA. Celebrating its 24th year, this popular race offers both a 5K trail course and a 1-mile trail course, catering to runners and walkers of all abilities. Typical race day conditions in late June bring pleasant weather, with highs around 72F and lows near 55F, alongside a minimal 4% chance of precipitation, creating ideal running temperatures.
The 5K trail course provides a "mostly flat" one-loop experience through the park's wooded areas. Runners will navigate natural trails with very little elevation change, encountering some exposed roots and occasional sharp turns that add a touch of challenge. The route also offers diverse scenery, passing by park features such as the SK Skate Park, Casey's Batting Cage, a kids playground, and even Live Steamer trains. The 1-mile course offers a flat trail along the park's perimeter, perfect for those seeking a shorter, faster dash. Both courses are accurately measured and well-marked with numerous signs and even flour on roots to highlight potential stepping hazards, ensuring a clear and safe path. The start and finish lines are conveniently located in the parking lot of the Lund Avenue entrance to the park.
The Hotfoot 5K prides itself on fostering a positive community experience, drawing around 120 participants annually, which ensures uncrowded trails. Beyond the well-organized race, participants appreciate the low entry fees and the opportunity to receive a quality, uniquely designed T-shirt each year. Your participation in this event goes even further, as proceeds benefit local scholarships and Port Orchard's public 4th of July fireworks display.
