This 13.1-mile race, set in the scenic Highlands Ranch, CO, promises a true Colorado trail running experience, winding through the picturesque Douglas County East/West Trail and the stunning Highlands Ranch Backcountry Wilderness Area. The single-loop course is 100% dirt, gravel, and singletrack, featuring numerous twists, turns, and rolling hills. Runners will encounter an elevation gain of approximately 1,000 feet, with the course starting around 6,000 feet of elevation. This challenging profile gives the race a "climb factor" equivalent to running 13.9 flat miles. Participants are treated to breathtaking views of the Front Range landscape, with opportunities to spot wildlife and enjoy the vibrant fall colors. Four aid stations are strategically placed throughout the course, providing water and electrolytes, and runners are encouraged to carry their own hydration in keeping with the "Leave No Trace" commitment. Typical race day conditions in early November see highs around 58F and lows around 30F, with a low chance of precipitation, though participants should be prepared for the possibility of mud, snow, or ice.
