Embark on a challenging and rewarding trail adventure at the Hurricane Hill 5K/10K on July 18, 2026, in scenic White River Junction, VT. This popular event, a key part of the Western NH Trail Running Series, invites runners of all levels to experience the rugged beauty of the Hartford Town Forest and Hartford Conservation Area. Known for its engaging atmosphere and community focus, proceeds from the race benefit the Friends of Hartford Track, supporting local fitness initiatives.

The Hurricane Hill courses offer a diverse and exhilarating trail experience. Both the 5K and 10K routes begin with steep climbs that will test your mettle, leading into moderately hilly terrain. The 10K features a significant 585 feet of elevation change, rewarding runners with a phenomenal view of the White Mountains on a clear day, before culminating in a downhill slope for the final 1.4 to 1.5 miles. The trails boast a perfect mix of surfaces, with approximately 10% dirt roads, 55% wide packed trails, and 35% exhilarating single tracks. While the 10K offers a rolling challenge, the 5K, after its initial ascents, is largely a downhill affair. Participants have consistently praised the "amazing race" experience, noting the initial tough climbs followed by a comparably "breeze" of a course.

Race day logistics are thoughtfully arranged for a smooth experience. Registration and parking are conveniently located at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center. From there, runners will take a brief 0.75-mile uphill walk to the starting line, with a bus service also provided for transport. The finish line is strategically placed for an easy walk back to UVAC, where post-race snacks, water, and prize opportunities await. Two water stops will be available on the course, supported by ten course workers and sweep runners for safety. Typical race day conditions in mid-July include highs around 84°F and lows around 60°F, with an 18% chance of precipitation, ensuring a classic summer trail run experience.
