Iao Valley 5K & 10K

Starting near the intersection of Market Street and Vineyard Street in Wailuku, this race offers a unique opportunity to run a scenic route into the breathtaking Iao Valley State Park. Participants in both the 6.2-mile (10K) and 3.1-mile (5K) events will experience a challenging yet rewarding course, leading uphill along West Vineyard Street and Main Street towards the iconic Iao Needle.

As runners ascend, they'll be immersed in the lush landscapes and striking vistas that define this historically significant valley. The Iao Needle, a magnificent 1,200-foot natural formation, stands as a dramatic backdrop to your effort. After reaching the designated turnaround point within or just outside the picturesque park, runners will enjoy a rolling downhill descent, culminating in a satisfying finish back in Wailuku. Typical race day conditions in July bring highs around 90°F and lows around 72°F, with a minimal 1% chance of precipitation, making for a warm and potentially humid but generally dry run.
