Embark on an unforgettable trail adventure at the In the Woods 30A 50K, set to challenge runners on February 21, 2026, in the stunning natural landscape of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. This unique event, proudly the only ultramarathon on 30A, offers participants the choice of a solo 50K effort or a 2-person or 3-person relay, making it accessible for various levels of ultrarunning enthusiasts.
The course, commencing and concluding at the Point Washington State Forest Eastern Lake Trailhead, plunges runners into a captivating world of endless pine forests. Expect a dynamic mix of mostly dirt and sand trails, interspliced with sections of pure sand and some gravel roads. This isn't a groomed path; runners will navigate natural obstacles including tree roots, rocks, and fallen trees, with multiple creek crossings handled by sturdy wood bridges. Be prepared for the possibility of standing water and mud, which only adds to the "pure awesomeness" of this trail experience. The 50K distance is completed over three laps, totaling 31.07 miles, with a generous 9.5-hour time limit. Typical race day conditions in late February offer pleasant running weather, with highs around 66°F and lows around 50°F, and only a 13% chance of precipitation.
The In the Woods 30A 50K promises a well-supported journey through an amazing forest environment, a refreshing contrast to the area's famed beautiful beaches. All registered runners receive a long-sleeve tech shirt, and finishers are awarded an iconic medal. Solo finishers achieving under four hours will be inducted into the coveted "U4 Club". As part of the experience, runners are encouraged to wear bright colors due to the active hunting season in the state forest. A portion of the proceeds from this event supports the Pt. Washington Medical Clinic, contributing to the local community.
