IPA 5K and Half Marathon

Prepare for an invigorating summer race experience at the IPA 5K and Half Marathon, set to take place on Sunday, July 19, 2026, in the charming coastal city of Newburyport, Massachusetts. This popular event, organized by YuKan Sports, LLC, offers both a challenging 13.1-mile half marathon and a spirited 5K, attracting between 1,000 and 5,000 runners annually. What truly sets this race apart is its unique celebration of craft beer, specifically the India Pale Ale, with both courses starting and finishing directly at the RiverWalk Brewery, where a refreshing cold beer awaits all finishers in the taproom. As YuKan celebrates its 15th Anniversary in 2026, participants can also look forward to special celebratory atmosphere.

The Half Marathon course boasts a scenic route with an elevation gain of 366 feet, offering an engaging road race experience on USATF-certified courses. Runners can expect nine aid stations along the half marathon route, providing water at approximately miles 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, with Zym Hydration available at miles 2, 4, 6, 9, 11, and 12, and energy gels near mile 6. The 5K course includes an aid station with water near mile 1.5. Portable restrooms are conveniently located at the start/finish area and at miles 3 and 10 on the half marathon course. Typical race day conditions in mid-July include highs around 84°F and lows around 63°F, with a 14% chance of precipitation, so runners are encouraged to carry additional hydration.

Beyond the race, the IPA 5K and Half Marathon provides a fantastic opportunity to explore everything greater Newburyport has to offer. Participants receive a finisher medal, free race photos, and on-course hydration and nutrition. Bib and race swag pickup is conveniently available on race day morning from 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM, with races scheduled to kick off around 8:00 AM. While there is no parking directly at the RiverWalk Brewery start/finish line, ample public parking options are available nearby.
