Lace up your running shoes for the 49th Annual Jacan Brown/Spring Run BB-1 Mile Run/Walk & JH-5K Run, set to take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in picturesque Springfield, Georgia. This cherished community event, held as a memorial tribute to a beloved Effingham County Sports and Recreation Services employee, invites participants of all ages and fitness levels to join in the excitement. Choose your challenge from either the 3.1-mile (5K) run, kicking off at 8:00 AM, or the accessible 1-mile run/walk, starting at 8:15 AM.

The race starts and finishes at the Effingham County Board of Education Office, located at 405 N. Ash Street, Springfield, GA. Runners can expect typical race day conditions to be pleasant, with historical highs around 69F and lows around 46F, and only a 10% chance of precipitation, making for ideal running weather. Participants who register by February 20th will receive a race day medal to commemorate their achievement, and all registrants will receive a t-shirt. Awards will be presented to the first, second, and third-place finishers in various age divisions for both male and female competitors in the 5K, and age group medals for the 1-mile event. There's even a special trophy awaiting the school with the most participants, fostering friendly community competition.

Hydration will be readily available with PowerAde and water at aid stations along the course. Packet pick-up is conveniently offered on February 26th and 27th at the Clarence E. Morgan Complex, as well as 30 minutes before the race begins on event day. Be sure to register in advance, as race day registration will not be available.
