Prepare to "Carpe Noctem"—seize the night—at the Javelina Jangover Night Runs on September 19, 2026, held amidst the stunning desert landscape of McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Scottsdale, Arizona. As the sixth and final event in the popular Insomniac Night Trail Run Series, this race offers a unique opportunity to experience desert trail running under a canopy of stars. Choose your challenge from distances including 7K, 15K, 25K, 50K, or the demanding 75K.
The course primarily traverses rolling desert single track and old jeep trails, offering a mix of fast, smooth sections and more challenging mountainous terrain with rocky stretches. For the 25K, 50K, and 75K distances, runners will tackle multiple loops of the Pemberton Trail, each featuring approximately 800 feet of elevation gain and loss. The 7K and 15K options explore the hilly Scenic Trail. Be prepared for typical race day conditions with highs around 100F and lows around 68F; even after sunset, temperatures can remain in the 80s, making the nocturnal setting a welcome reprieve from the daytime heat. Runners frequently highlight the necessity of a reliable headlamp to navigate the trails, as desert wildlife like snakes and scorpions are known to make appearances.
Runners will find exceptional support along the way with fully stocked aid stations at the Pemberton Trailhead start/finish area and a remote aid station at Granite Tank. These stations are celebrated for offering water, ice, electrolyte drinks, a variety of salty and sweet snacks, fruit, PB&J, and even hot foods like quesadillas and grilled cheese. This event is a fantastic training ground for the iconic Javelina Jundred, providing a vibrant community atmosphere and a memorable desert ultra experience.
