JJ's Journey for a Cause

Lace up for a cause that truly matters at JJ's Journey for a Cause, held in Wendell, NC, from May 31 to June 6, 2026. This heartfelt event invites runners and walkers of all ages to participate in a 5-mile race, 5K, or a lively 1-mile Kids Fun Run, all dedicated to honoring the memory of JJ, a beloved child lost too soon to SIDS. All proceeds directly benefit First Candle, an organization at the forefront of SIDS prevention research and family support.

The main races, including the 5 Miler and 5K, will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, starting at 7:00 AM EDT and 8:00 AM EDT respectively, with the start and finish located at 320 Vintage Point Lane. Participants can expect typical race day conditions with highs around 84°F and lows around 63°F, and about a 17% chance of precipitation. The Kids Fun Run offers two exciting options: a "glow run" on Friday evening, June 5, 2026, at 6:00 PM EDT, and a "color run" experience for elementary-aged children on Saturday morning, June 6, 2026, at 9:00 AM EDT, where kids will be sprinkled with color powder. Strollers are also welcome in the main races.

Beyond the race itself, JJ's Journey for a Cause creates a memorable atmosphere with a post-race birthday bash on Saturday, June 6th, featuring music, snacks, balloons, and entertainment to celebrate JJ's 5th birthday. Awards, presented by Pace Yourself Run Company, will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as age group winners. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual 5K option is available, allowing participants to contribute to this vital cause from anywhere.
