Prepare for an exhilarating trail running adventure at the Koala Bottle Table Rock 15K & 5K, set for Saturday, August 8, 2026, in scenic Pickens, South Carolina. Nestled in the foothills of the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains, this event offers two distinct challenges for runners of all skill levels. Typical race day conditions in early August bring highs around 89°F and lows near 69°F, with a 17% chance of precipitation, making for a warm but potentially refreshing run.
The 5K course provides a fantastic experience for both novice and seasoned trail runners. It meanders along single-track trails beside the picturesque Carrick Creek, offering a gradual climb towards Pinnacle Mountain before a thrilling downhill finish. For those seeking a significant test of endurance, the 15K (which measures closer to 17K) builds on the 5K route for the initial two miles before embarking on a challenging nearly 2000-foot climb over the next five miles. This "brutal" ascent will push you to the summit of Pinnacle Mountain, rewarding your efforts with spectacular panoramic views from both Pinnacle Mountain and Bald Rock. Expect rugged terrain, including stream crossings, gnarled roots, and jagged rocks that will keep you focused as you navigate your way back down to the finish line.
The start and finish festivities, including packet pick-up, will be centered around The Pinnacle Pavilion. All finishers will receive super soft shirts and awards, with prizes also given to the top three overall and age group winners. After conquering the trails, celebrate your accomplishment with plenty of food and ice-cold drinks, making for a memorable day of running and camaraderie in the great outdoors. Don't forget the $6 state park entry fee to access this beautiful venue.
