Get ready for an exhilarating journey into the heart of Southeast Alaska with the KRC Southeast Slosh, a compelling trail half marathon set for Saturday, July 11, 2026, in picturesque Ketchikan. This event, marking the second annual trail half marathon hosted by the Ketchikan Running Club, invites runners and walkers alike to tackle 13.99 miles of stunning natural terrain. The course, thoughtfully designed by the Ketchikan Running Club and granted a Special Use Permit through the Tongass National Forest Service, starts and finishes at scenic Ward Lake. Participants will navigate a breathtaking route incorporating the Perseverance Lake Trail, Ward Creek Trail, Pipeline, and Salvage trails, offering an immersive experience through the beautiful Tongass National Forest.

The KRC Southeast Slosh promises a rewarding challenge for all skill levels, from seasoned trail runners to enthusiastic walkers. With a generous 5-hour cutoff time, equating to approximately a 21:30 minute mile pace, there's ample opportunity to soak in the vibrant Alaskan scenery. Four well-placed aid stations along the route will keep you hydrated and energized. Typical race day conditions in July offer pleasant temperatures, with highs around 64°F and lows around 53°F, and a 26% chance of precipitation, adding to the authentic "slosh" experience. Both individual runners and relay teams of up to four members are welcome to register, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and shared adventure.

Bib pick-up will be held at the Ketchikan Rec Center on Friday, July 10th, from 5-7 PM, with cash-only on-site registration available at Ward Lake on race day. This is more than just a race; it's an opportunity to explore the unparalleled beauty of Southeast Alaska's wilderness while being part of a supportive running community.
