About This Race

Lace up for an unforgettable journey into the "wild side" of Las Vegas at the Labor of Love Races on March 7, 2026. This unique event, featuring distances including a 50K, Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K, offers runners a rare opportunity to explore the breathtaking landscapes of the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, a true treasure just 30-40 minutes from the iconic Las Vegas Strip.

The course, run entirely on the paved Lovell Canyon Road, begins at an elevation of approximately 4,500 feet and winds through rolling, gradually uphill terrain, providing a challenging yet rewarding experience. Runners will be immersed in a pristine natural environment, surrounded by high desert vegetation, including Joshua Trees, Pinion-Juniper, Mountain Rose, and Sagebrush, with glimpses of a relatively lush Toiyabe National Forest. Marathon and 50K participants will experience climbs up to roughly 7,000 feet, with the 50K featuring approximately 2,400 feet of total climbing. Typical race day conditions in early March are ideal for running, with highs around 68°F and lows around 47°F, and only a 2% chance of precipitation. Expect temperatures to be about 10 degrees cooler than in the Las Vegas Valley, creating a crisp and invigorating atmosphere.

Organized by Calico Racing, known for their well-managed events, the Labor of Love Races provides excellent support with well-stocked aid stations and portable toilets strategically placed along the out-and-back course. 50K runners will also have access to a drop bag at the 26.2-mile mark. The start and finish line are conveniently located at the Lovell Canyon Road and Highway 160 Junction, with parking available nearby. This intimate event promises a memorable journey through a spectacularly scenic canyon, offering a distinct running experience for all, from seasoned ultrarunners to those tackling their first 5K.
