Lake Area Runners 4 for the Fourth

Kick off your Independence Day with a burst of energy at the Lake Area Runners 4 for the Fourth, happening on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Lake Charles, LA. This spirited 4-mile race, organized by the non-profit Lake Area Runners since 1978, promises a festive atmosphere as you celebrate freedom on the scenic Lakeshore Drive.

The course is renowned for being flat and fast, an out-and-back route that provides picturesque views along the waterfront. Known as "Lake Area Runner's hottest race of the year," typical race day conditions in early July can see highs around 92°F and lows around 76°F, with a 19% chance of precipitation. Runners are strongly encouraged to hydrate well due to the heat. Hydration stations and cheer spots will be available to support participants along the way.

Starting and finishing at the Police Jury Parking Lot at 1110 Pithon Street, this event welcomes both runners and walkers. Beyond being a patriotic run, it serves as the thrilling finale of the Lake Area Runners Triple Crown Series, with special prizes for those who complete all three races, and fireworks awarded to overall and age group winners.
