Lake Run Club Kids Run For Fun Summer Series

Lace up the sneakers for a delightful family evening at the Lake Run Club Kids Run For Fun Summer Series, kicking off its 2026 season on Friday, June 5, in Normal, Illinois. This cherished, non-competitive series, celebrating its 30th year, is designed to instill a love for running and exercise in children aged 1-12. Held at Normal Community High School (NCHS), the event offers age-appropriate distances with a 200-meter dash for the youngest runners (two years and under, with parents welcome to join) and a 400-meter lap for all other participants. An open 1-mile run follows the youth heats for those 12 and up looking for an extended challenge.

The races begin promptly at 6:00 PM at the NCHS track, located at 3900 East Raab Road. Runners will enjoy a flat, straightforward course on the high school track, providing an excellent environment for personal bests and spirited participation. To ensure a smooth and safe experience, children are grouped into heats by age, reducing congestion. Even though it's a non-competitive event focused on fun, timing clocks are on-site for those curious about their finish times.
