About This Race

Prepare for an unforgettable journey through Southern California's scenic Upper Las Virgenes Canyon at the Las Virgenes Canyon Ultra Trail Races, set for April 25, 2026. Starting from the Victory Trailhead in Woodland Hills (Los Angeles), CA, this event, formerly known as the Ahmanson Ranch Trail Races, offers a diverse range of challenges including 6K, 12K, 30K, 54K, 84K, and a newly introduced 100K distance for 2026. Runners will traverse 100% un-paved trails, experiencing breathtaking landscapes of rolling hills, technical sections, and rewarding descents amidst vibrant spring wildflowers and greenery. These historic trails even served as backdrops for classic films like 'Gone With The Wind' and 'Django Unchained' on Lasky Mesa, adding a unique cinematic element to your run.

The course is renowned for its rugged terrain and punchy climbs, with the 84K distance featuring an impressive 6,384 feet of elevation gain, and the longer ultras presenting even greater challenges. Typical race day conditions in late April bring pleasant weather, with highs around 78°F and lows around 54°F, and only a 1% chance of precipitation. Aid stations are fully supported, though this is a cupless event, so participants should bring their own hydration bottles or vests. Pacers are permitted for the longer distances, starting after three loops for the 54K, four for the 84K, and five for the 100K.

Beyond the challenging course, the Las Virgenes Canyon Ultra Trail Races foster a strong sense of community and celebration. After crossing the finish line, runners can enjoy post-race festivities including delicious food from vendors like California Fish Grill and Daphne's California Greek, refreshing drinks including Tony's famous iced coffee, lively music, and recovery stations. Medals and swag commemorate your achievement on these memorable Southern California trails.
