This family-friendly 5K, celebrating its 16th annual running, begins and ends at the iconic Whalehead Club in Historic Corolla Park. Runners and walkers will embark on a picturesque course that winds past significant Outer Banks landmarks, including the historic Whalehead Club, Corolla Light, and the magnificent Currituck Beach Lighthouse, offering captivating views throughout your journey.
The course is largely flat, primarily on a concrete sidewalk, with some gentle inclines and declines, making it accessible for all fitness levels. Typical race day conditions in late May offer pleasant temperatures, with highs around 80°F and lows around 61°F, and a 16% chance of precipitation, providing a comfortable running environment. Participants rave about the relaxed, vacation-like atmosphere and positive energy, making it an ideal race to enjoy while visiting the Outer Banks.
Every participant receives a unique finisher medal and an event t-shirt, with awards presented to the top three overall male and female runners, as well as the first-place Masters (over 40) and Youth (under 14) male and female finishers. Ample parking and restrooms are available onsite at the Whalehead Club, where packet pickup and day-of registration commence at 6:50 AM before the 8:00 AM start.
