About This Race

Embark on an exhilarating challenge at the Lord Hill Trail Run, set for Saturday, February 21, 2026, in the stunning Lord Hill Regional Park in Snohomish, Washington. This beloved early-season event, celebrating its 21st year, offers distances for every trail enthusiast: a demanding 50K, 20M, 10M, and 5K, alongside unique 10M and 5K Brunch Run options. Nestled in over 1,300 acres of wilderness within the Cascade Mountain foothills, the course is a dynamic blend of "hills, neon greenery, buttery trails, creek crossings, and definitely some mud". Runners will immediately tackle "the hill" with a steep initial climb, often met with an "Oh Lord!" moment as the ascent continues before flowing into undulating trails through beautiful forests. Expect roughly two-thirds single-track and one-third fire road, with some rough, rocky sections and slippery bridges adding to the adventure.

The challenging loops, which include a quick creek crossing, lake views, and a descent into and climb out of a canyon, ensure a diverse and engaging experience. The 50K course, for instance, involves approximately 5100 feet of elevation gain over multiple loops. Fully stocked aid stations, positioned roughly every five miles, will provide essential hydration with water and Nuun, as well as fuel like Clif products, PBJ sandwiches, fruit, cookies, crackers, and pretzels, ensuring runners are well-supported throughout their journey. Upon crossing the finish line at the park's south end, participants are welcomed with hot vegetable soup, chili, and other treats.

Typical race day conditions in late February see highs around 59F and lows near 38F, with a 17% chance of precipitation, meaning runners should be prepared for potentially wet and muddy conditions. What makes this race truly stand out, beyond its challenging yet scenic course, are the unique, handcrafted awards for finishers and its reputation as a fantastic kick-off to the Pacific Northwest trail running season. Runners have praised its "great mixture of hills, curvy, narrow trails and open paths," often describing it as "moderately hilly by trail running standards". Due to limited parking, 5K and 10M participants will utilize a convenient shuttle service from Monroe High School, while 20M and 50K runners can park at the start/finish area. Join the Lord Hill Trail Run for an unforgettable and rewarding trail experience.
