Louisville Lovin' the Hills

Prepare to embrace a true test of grit and scenic beauty at the Louisville Lovin' the Hills, a renowned trail race returning on February 7, 2026, in the stunning Jefferson Memorial Forest of Fairdale, KY. Known as one of the most challenging 50K courses in the region, this event offers demanding distances including a 50K, a challenging 15 Miler, and a spirited 6 Miler, catering to various levels of trail enthusiasts. Typical race day conditions feature highs around 45F and lows around 28F, with a 14% chance of precipitation, often adding to the legendary difficulty and memorable experience.

The course itself is a journey through nature, primarily on single-track trails winding through the forest, punctuated by numerous 250-foot climbs and offering breathtaking scenic overlooks of downtown Louisville. While challenging, the terrain is generally runnable for those well-trained on hills, featuring few rocks or roots. The 50K route specifically encompasses diverse sections like the Red/Orange, Blue, Yost, Purple Heart, Siltstone, and Scott's Gap trails, with some course adjustments made over the years to enhance the running experience. Runners are well-supported with 8 aid stations for the 50K and 3 for the 15 Miler, and volunteers consistently receive praise for their outstanding support.

Starting and finishing at the warm Horine Center, the event culminates with a cherished tradition: hot homemade soup, with both meat and vegan options, a highlight for many weary runners.
