Embark on an unforgettable journey through the rugged and breathtaking North Dakota Badlands at the MAAH DAAH HEY TRAIL RUN(S) on July 24, 2026. This premier trail running experience offers a challenge for every level, with distances including 116M, 58M, 27M, 13.5M, 6.7M, and 3.2M, all run on the world-famous Maah Daah Hey Trail. Known for its stunning scenery, including dramatic buttes, expansive valleys, and rolling grasslands, the course provides continuous single-track adventure. Race day conditions typically feature highs around 85F and lows near 60F, with a slight chance of precipitation, meaning runners should be prepared for warm, exposed conditions with minimal shade.
The Maah Daah Hey Trail itself is an "EPIC" 144-mile non-motorized single track, characterized by a unique blend of dirt, clay, sandstone, and scoria, offering both descents and climbs that are never far apart. While generally not overly technical, the rolling terrain demands respect, and managing hydration is crucial. All races are point-to-point, culminating in the quaint cowboy town of Medora, providing a vibrant finish line experience for runners and their supporters. Aid stations, strategically placed approximately every 25 miles, offer essential support with liquids, food, shaded tents, and porta-potties, while checkpoints provide additional water and serve as potential "bailout" points. Participants in ultra-distances (58M, 116M) are highly encouraged to arrange for personal SAG (Support and Gear) assistance due to the trail's remote nature. A portion of every registration directly contributes to the "SAVE THE MAAH DAAH HEY" non-profit, ensuring the continued preservation and maintenance of this legendary trail.
