Lace up for speed and community spirit at the MAIN STREET MILE, an iconic road race returning to Farmingdale, NY, on Saturday, September 5, 2026. This USATF-certified one-mile course is renowned as the perfect opportunity to chase a personal best, inviting runners to dash down the vibrant Main Street. Participants can expect typical race day conditions to be pleasant, with historical highs around 78°F and lows around 63°F, and only an 11% chance of precipitation. The race also features a Kids Fun Run, making it a fantastic event for the entire family to enjoy.
More than just a race, the MAIN STREET MILE has been a cherished Labor Day tradition since its inception in 2005, earning recognition from Newsday as one of Long Island's top Labor Day weekend activities. Organized by Runner's Edge and proudly produced by RaceAwesome.com, the event attracts over 500 participants annually and has raised significant funds for the Companions In Courage Foundation, an organization dedicated to building interactive "Lion's Den" playrooms in children's hospitals across North America.
Your race experience culminates in a lively post-race party at The Tap Room, where a free post-race beer (for eligible participants), a buffet lunch, and soft drinks await. Hockey Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine, founder of the beneficiary charity, often attends the festivities, which also include live music, raffles, and a silent auction. Packet pickup is conveniently located at Runner's Edge, with the main mile race starting at 24 Quaker Meeting House Rd, and both the Kids Fun Run and finish line situated at 360 Main St, Farmingdale. Join fellow runners for a memorable day of racing and philanthropy.
