Embark on a truly distinctive running experience at the Marsh Madness 10K, set for Saturday, June 20, 2026, in picturesque Curtice, Ohio. This premier 10K race invites participants to explore the breathtaking 1,000-acre Howard Marsh Metropark, offering a flat, fast, and incredibly scenic course along gravel trails atop the marsh dikes. Runners will be immersed in an environment rich with unique plants, diverse bird species, and abundant wildlife, making it a feast for the senses. As the first event in the Toledo Roadrunners-Metroparks Toledo Trail Race Series, it sets a high standard for trail running in the region.
The Marsh Madness 10K is renowned for its commitment to sustainability; runners are encouraged to carry their own hydration or utilize the free collapsible cups provided at packet pick-up, as the race proudly goes cupless to protect the delicate marsh ecosystem. A single aid station will be available, which runners will pass twice, at approximately 3.3 and 5.7 miles, to refill their hydration. Typical race day conditions in late June can see highs around 82°F and lows around 63°F, with a 15% chance of precipitation, providing a warm but potentially pleasant run.
What truly sets this event apart is the unique post-race experience. After crossing the finish line and receiving a custom finisher medal and marsh-themed sun catcher award for top performers, participants can extend their adventure by launching a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard to explore Howard Marsh's eight miles of aquatic trails. Rental kayaks are available, inviting runners to complete a full "marshy" day. Proceeds from the event also support SewHope, a Toledo-based non-profit aiding health and education in Guatemala. Packet pick-up is available on June 18-19 at Second Sole in Perrysburg, or on race day from 7:30-8:15 AM at the Howard Marsh Metropark start/finish line located at 401-621 S Howard Rd, Curtice, OH, with the race starting at 8:30 AM EDT.
