Embrace the rugged beauty of Missoula, Montana, at the Marshall Mountain Revival Trail Runs on Saturday, May 16, 2026. This event, now in its second year, is more than just a race; it's a vibrant celebration of Marshall Mountain's rich outdoor legacy and its resurgence as a cherished community hub. Runners can choose their challenge from two distinct distances: the demanding 16-mile (25K) Solo or Relay option, boasting a significant 3600 feet of elevation gain, or the spirited 4.95-mile (Moose 5 Miler) loop with 1200 feet of climbing. Typical race day conditions in mid-May offer ideal running weather, with highs around 67F and lows near 40F, and only an 8% chance of precipitation.
Starting and finishing at the Marshall Mountain base area, the courses are meticulously designed to showcase the newly built trails. The 25K event tackles three challenging 5-mile loops—named "Hot Sauce," "Hello Kitty," and "Moose"—each beginning with a steep 1200-foot ascent on the "Izzy Up" trail before descending via exciting singletrack. The shorter Moose 5 Miler offers a straightforward yet challenging single lap on smooth singletrack. Two aid stations, one at the start/finish and the "Three Forks" station at the top of each climb, will keep you fueled with water, Skratch Labs electrolyte drinks, energy chews, and a variety of snacks.
The Marshall Mountain Revival promises an unforgettable experience beyond the trails. Expect a festive and inclusive atmosphere, complete with cheers, high-fives, and lively post-race celebrations. Runners are treated to a robust pancake brunch, Big Sky Brewing beverages, access to a vendor village, and even finish-line massages. With chip timing, live results, and custom awards, this event is a perfect way to challenge yourself, connect with fellow trail enthusiasts, and support the Friends of Marshall Mountain.
