Marshall Run

Join fellow runners and walkers on Saturday, September 5, 2026, for the inspiring Marshall Run, a 5K event held in the charming community of Newaygo, Michigan. This race stands as a poignant tribute to Tpr. Kevin M. Marshall, who died in the line of duty, with every stride benefiting the Michigan Special Olympics through the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR). Participants will begin their journey at Riverfront Park Phase II, located behind Wisner Canoe Rentals, embarking on an out-and-back course.

The Marshall Run promises a memorable and engaging experience, guiding you along the scenic river trail before crossing the Muskegon River on the Bridge Street Bridge. The highlight and challenge of the course is the infamous "Whiskey Wood Hill," a half-mile stretch of winding, wooded terrain with significant elevation that tests runners' resolve. This "noticeable" climb is often mentioned by those who have tackled it, making the turnaround at the summit a true accomplishment. Expect typical race day conditions in early September to be pleasant, with highs around 76°F and lows around 51°F, and a relatively low 13% chance of precipitation.

All registrants receive a commemorative t-shirt, and competitive runners will vie for awards presented to the top overall male and female finishers, male and female masters, male and female public safety participants, and the top three in each age group.
