Medal Madness 5K, & 13.1M at Hickory, NC (23)

Lace up for the Medal Madness 5K, & 13.1M in scenic Hickory, NC, on Saturday, June 6, 2026! This popular event, a highlight of the US Road Running Race Series, invites runners of all levels to tackle either a 5K or a challenging half marathon, kicking off at 8:30 AM. Runners can expect typical race day conditions with highs around 84°F and lows near 63°F, alongside a low 15% chance of precipitation, making for a potentially warm but engaging run.

Both distances feature an engaging out-and-back course design, winding through the beautiful surroundings of Catawba County. The 5K runners will complete a 1.56-mile out-and-back route twice, while half marathon participants will conquer the 2.18-mile out-and-back course six times. The race fosters a festive atmosphere, known for its camaraderie and competitive spirit. All finishers are rewarded with a unique themed medal, commemorating their achievement. Adding to the fun, participants are encouraged to embrace their creativity by dressing in costumes, with prizes awarded for the best outfits.

The starting line is conveniently located across the street from the corner of 16th Ave Pl NW and 12th St Dr NW, with packet pickup beginning 30 minutes before the race. Remember to register in advance as there is no on-site registration available.
