Embark on an unforgettable trail adventure at the Mesquite Canyon, set for March 14, 2026, in Waddell, AZ. Hosted by the acclaimed Aravaipa Running, this event, concluding the Desert Runner Trail Series, offers a spectrum of distances to test every runner, from the 8K and Half Marathon to the challenging 30K, 50K, and 50 Mile ultramarathons. Runners will navigate rugged, single-track trails through the White Tank Mountain Regional Park, a landscape defined by significant climbs, technical descents, and breathtaking panoramic views of Phoenix and the sprawling desert. Expect typical race day conditions with highs around 78°F and lows near 51°F, with only a 4% chance of precipitation, ensuring clear, though potentially warm, skies for your journey.

The Mesquite Canyon course is renowned for its demanding yet rewarding terrain, featuring large boulders, varied desert vegetation, and intense elevation changes, including up to 2,470 feet of gain for the 30K, 5,170 feet for the 50K, and over 7,700 feet for the 50-mile race. The 50K and 50M distances introduce a particularly unique and "hazardous" section down Ford Canyon, requiring downhill rock scrambling over the famed "White Tank" rock formations and traversing a two-mile dry creek wash filled with sand and boulders, where runners pick their own path. This section, often described as both awesome and demanding, contributes to the event's reputation as a true test of grit and skill.

Well-stocked aid stations are strategically placed every 1.8 to 8.8 miles, offering water, electrolyte drinks, sweet and salty snacks, and fresh fruit to keep you fueled. Be prepared for some remote stretches, as up to 8.8 miles between aid stations on longer courses necessitate carrying 2-3 bottles of fluids. This is a cupless event, so bring your own reusable cup or plan to purchase one on-site. With its stunning scenery, challenging course, and top-tier organization, the Mesquite Canyon promises an unparalleled and deeply satisfying trail running experience.
