MOTHER'S DAY HALF MARATHON 5K & 1 MILE WALK

Celebrate fitness and family at the Mother's Day Half Marathon, 5K & 1 Mile Walk on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in the scenic Far Rockaway, Queens, New York. This beloved annual event, hosted by the Rockaway Track Club, offers a perfect way to enjoy the spring weather while participating in a supportive community atmosphere. Runners and walkers alike can choose their challenge, with distances including a Half Marathon (13.1M), a 5K (3.1M), and a leisurely 1 Mile Walk.

The course is known for being entirely flat and 100% paved, tracing picturesque loops along the iconic Rockaway Beach Boardwalk, providing breathtaking ocean views throughout. The Half Marathon features two dynamic loops, starting and finishing on Beach 94th Street, heading west to Beach 124th Street, then east to Beach 54th Street before returning to Beach 94th. The 5K is an out-and-back route, also beginning at Beach 94th and turning around at Beach 124th Street. Participants will find ample hydration with water and Gatorade available at numerous aid stations along the course, with at least four stops per half marathon loop. Typical race day conditions in early May feature comfortable highs around 67°F and lows around 51°F, with a minimal 15% chance of precipitation. The route is largely exposed to the sun, so sun protection is recommended, and runners can anticipate a refreshing ocean breeze.

This "no-frills" and "super casual" race is celebrated for its community spirit and is an excellent opportunity for personal bests due to its flat profile. All participants are rewarded with a commemorative T-shirt and medal, making for a memorable Mother's Day achievement. The event kicks off with bib and T-shirt pick-up at 8:00 AM, with all races starting at 9:00 AM from Beach 94th Street on the Boardwalk, where public parking is also available.
