This unique 10K race offers participants the extraordinary, once-a-year chance to traverse the majestic Coronado Bridge on foot, an experience typically reserved for vehicles. Starting at One Park Blvd between the Hilton Bayfront and Convention Center in downtown San Diego, runners will embark on a scenic point-to-point journey.
The course is renowned for its breathtaking panoramic bay views as it winds through downtown, features a roughly 200-foot incline over the Coronado Bridge, and then descends to Tidelands Park in Coronado. The 10K distance then extends through a flat and fast section of picturesque Coronado Island, catering to competitive runners seeking an official race distance. Runners can expect typical race day conditions with highs around 70°F and lows around 60°F, and a minimal chance of rain. Water and restrooms are available at the start, finish, and a water station before the bridge at Chicano Park to ensure proper hydration.
Crossing the Coronado Bridge is a highlight for many, offering unparalleled photo opportunities and a memorable challenge. Upon finishing at Tidelands Park, participants are celebrated with a high-quality commemorative t-shirt and a finisher's medal, with a special edition medal for the 39th annual event in 2026. The festivities continue with a lively post-race party featuring refreshments, live music, and sponsor booths. Convenient, free transportation via shuttle bus or ferry is provided to return participants to the starting area. This well-regarded event not only delivers an unforgettable race experience but also supports the Navy Region Southwest Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs, benefiting the local military community.
