Newburgh Derby Dash

Get ready to lace up your running shoes and don your finest Derby attire for the inaugural Newburgh Derby Dash on Saturday, May 2, 2026! This exciting event, hosted by Historic Newburgh, Inc., invites runners and walkers to experience the picturesque Newburgh Riverfront in Reed, KY. Participants can choose between a timed 5K race and a leisurely 1-Mile option, perfect for all ages and fitness levels. Typical race day conditions in early May feature comfortable highs around 74F and lows near 52F, with only a 20% chance of precipitation, promising ideal running weather.

The scenic 5K course offers breathtaking views of the Ohio River throughout its entirety. Starting and finishing at the intersection of State & Water Streets by Marida Mediterranean Restaurant, the route guides participants along the beautiful French Island Trail. Runners will pass Old Lock and Dam Park before turning around just prior to the hill leading up to Newburgh Overlook Park, ensuring a mostly flat and enjoyable journey. All entrants will receive a complimentary custom Derby Dash t-shirt to commemorate their participation in this brand-new event.

What truly sets the Newburgh Derby Dash apart is its festive Kentucky Derby theme.
