This exciting event, hosted by Historic Newburgh, Inc., invites runners and walkers to experience the picturesque Newburgh Riverfront in Reed, KY. Participants can choose between a timed 5K race and a leisurely 1-Mile option, perfect for all ages and fitness levels. The scenic 5K course offers breathtaking views of the Ohio River throughout its entirety. Starting and finishing at the intersection of State & Water Streets by Marida Mediterranean Restaurant, the route guides participants along the beautiful French Island Trail. Runners will pass Old Lock and Dam Park before turning around just prior to the hill leading up to Newburgh Overlook Park, ensuring a mostly flat and enjoyable journey. All entrants will receive a complimentary custom Derby Dash t-shirt to commemorate their participation in this brand-new event.
What truly sets the Newburgh Derby Dash apart is its festive Kentucky Derby theme. Participants are highly encouraged to embrace the spirit of the Derby by wearing big hats, bow ties, and bright colors, adding an extra layer of fun to the day. The celebration continues well after crossing the finish line, as the race conveniently precedes the Historic Newburgh Beer & Wine Festival, opening at noon right on the Riverfront. This provides a vibrant atmosphere for runners and their supporters to unwind and celebrate their achievement.
