This vibrant event invites hundreds of participants to experience a "new," fast, and largely flat loop course that winds through the scenic North Valley and Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. While generally considered flat and fast, with an altitude around 5,000 feet, some sections may present gentle undulations, offering a great opportunity for runners aiming for personal records. The course is primarily road with some hardpacked dirt sections for the half marathon, and runners can anticipate picturesque views, including the possibility of hot air balloons lifting off in the morning.

Starting and finishing at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI), the Half Marathon course includes crossing the Rio Grande, adding to the unique New Mexico scenery. Runners will find ample support with seven fluid stations offering water and Powerade approximately every two miles along the Half Marathon route, along with medical personnel and restrooms at key points. What truly sets this race apart is the lively atmosphere of Albuquerque in the fall, coinciding with the New Mexico State Fair and the enticing aroma of fresh chile in the air.

Participants in the Half Marathon will be rewarded with custom finisher medals, and all distances receive age group and overall awards, plus great race shirts. Typical race day conditions in mid-September feature pleasant highs around 84°F and lows around 60°F, with a minimal 4% chance of precipitation, creating ideal running weather.
