One King Sports 5K and Kids Race

Lace up your running shoes for the 8th Annual One King Sports 5K and Kids Race, set to take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Clarksburg, WV. This event promises a rewarding experience for runners of all abilities, unfolding along the picturesque Harrison County Rail Trail.

The 5K course is an out-and-back route that is generally flat and well-marked, beginning and ending at the Freedom Shelter within Veteran's Memorial Park. Runners can anticipate an enjoyable experience amidst beautiful scenery, guided by numerous volunteers along the way. Typical race day conditions in early May feature pleasant temperatures, with highs around 73°F and lows near 49°F, and only a 19% chance of precipitation, creating ideal weather for a spirited run. After crossing the finish line, participants can refuel with post-race refreshments including banana halves and water bottles.

More than just a race, this event serves as a cornerstone fundraiser for the One King Sports ministry, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to challenging the status quo of youth sports by instilling biblical values and leadership skills. Proceeds directly support their impactful youth sports seasons and provide scholarships to deserving children. The race fosters a vibrant community atmosphere, complete with awards for the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as age group trophies and custom leather patches for second and third place. For the youngest athletes, a spirited Kids Race immediately follows the 5K, offering a short sprint for children aged 8 and under, who receive a One King patch and a t-shirt. Team competitions are also encouraged, with awards for the fastest and largest teams, enhancing the friendly rivalry and camaraderie.
