About This Race

Embark on a challenging and scenic adventure at the Ontario Summit Trail Races, returning to Naples, NY, on September 12, 2026. This premier trail event, hosted at Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill, the highest point in Ontario County, offers runners a choice between a Half Marathon and a 5-mile distance. Expect typical race day conditions with highs around 75°F and lows around 51°F, and a 15% chance of precipitation, making for pleasant running weather.

The courses are renowned for their high percentage of rolling, tree-covered single-track trails, promising an authentic trail running experience filled with rocks, roots, and charming wooden bridges. Runners will traverse nearly every trail within Ontario County Park, along with sections of the Finger Lakes Trail and some unique privately-owned paths, all while soaking in awe-inspiring wooded scenery. While the Half Marathon (long course) is designed to deliver significant elevation changes and is certainly not a course for setting personal bests, the 5-mile (short course) offers a more moderate challenge with relatively less elevation gain. For 2026, the race organizers are implementing "big changes" to the course, focusing on crafting engaging short and long courses rather than strict adherence to traditional distances.

Runners will be well-supported with three fully-stocked aid stations strategically placed every 3-4 miles, offering water, Skratch Labs electrolyte drinks, GU gels, and an assortment of salty snacks. Participants are encouraged to carry their own hydration packs and drinking vessels to minimize waste. The race headquarters at Wilson Lodge in Ontario County Park provides a central hub, with ample event parking directed by volunteers. Post-race festivities at Watkins Lodge include delicious hand-made burritos, refreshing beverages, and physical therapy support, creating a vibrant atmosphere to celebrate your accomplishments.
